"World Tree"

The clean design and graphic quality of the lines are influenced by Hokusai prints and African hieroglyphic pictograms.

It expresses the idea of a tree as a massive eternally monolithic structure that reaches past the clouds and supports the sky to connect heaven and earth. This is a description that has of late been attributed to our modern "sky scrapers". I wanted to reverse the hubris of man and humbly pay homage to the things that truly sustain us.

The Bridegrooms is a engraving inspired in the idea of the mix of culture. The maps of America and Africa transform in human beings that are trapped in the sea, suggest the idea of the escape to another space or place.
